Now that the XL2 is out you may be better off just keeping it since I would guess that the prices on XL1/XL1s will be dropping fast.
Good Luck
Hi, me and 2 friends own a Canon XL-1 Mini-DV PAL videocamera. We bought it about 3 years ago and payed about 3500 euro's. Camera has been in use a lot (of course), but is in good condition. We basically don't have any use for it anymore since we all work in production companies and have access to better cameras anyway. So, we are thinking of selling it. (personally, I need the money also *grin*) I checked some priceinfo on eBay, but the prices of this camera seem to be anything between 800-2500 dollares??? What would you guys think for a "normal" price for this? If we can get enough, we will probably sell it, but we need at least about 1500 dollares for it. If we don't get that, there's no point of selling the camera and we will keep it as a "hobbybackupholidayscrewingaround" camera...
What do you think..?

I think you might be right... and maybe there's still use for it. My friend just sended me an email that he's gonna take it to Russia for a holiday ...and we don't have the insurance anymore!! Maybe our problem will "solve" itself and somebody nicks the cam in St. Petersburg *laughing*
I'm pretty sure you could get 1500 american for it if it is in good condition. It is still a solid camera, and the prices for this type of stuff don't usually drop like a rock as soon as the slightly better one is out. A new XL-1S is still fetching $5300 Canadian, which is around $4000 US. So if you are hoping for $1500 that seems quite doable.
Hey, I'll be blunt, I hate the ebay rat race and would love to buy it straight off you, from $1400 - $1600 I hope the cheaper one because Im a student from Australia who hasnt got that much to blow.
Willing?
What does it come with?

Like you can see from my specs, I'm at the moment staying in Argentina, but will go "home" to Finland in about a month. I'll check with my friends what they think (and if anything has happened to the camera meanwhile *grin*)
We don't have much accessories. A microfone for doing interviews and a cable for it (can't remember the brand, but it was quite cheap), 2 batteries (normal and a big one). I can throw in some tapes also, but that's about it... And to make sure... the camera is model XL-1 (not XL-1S or XL-2) and comes with the original lense.
We been using the camera mostly for a second camera in a tv-program where I used to work so it has not been in rain or sandstorms or anything like that. Mostly indoor shoots.
Send me an email so that I'll remember all this...

...and I'll get back to you soon as I can. We can discuss the price when I get "OK" from my friends and when I'm sure that the camera is still in the condition where I left it 7 months ago. I would like to see the camera myself to make sure that I'm not selling it without knowing it's allright so, you'll probably have to wait for a month untill I get back to Finland. Let's keep in touch.
Im not sure, I checked how much 1500$ is in american and it traslates to 2100 australian dollers.
I dont have that much.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Ups... I guess that's it then. Like I said we need about 1500USD for it. Otherwise there's no point of selling it...Originally posted by Lost_Truth:
